Pico dos Barcelos Viewpoint
Built in 1950 , the Barcelos of Pico Miradouro is located in Santo António to about 355 meters. From this viewpoint you can admire a breathtaking view over the bay and the city of Funchal, with the Deserted Islands in the background , the last 20 years Funchal has grown tremends all around with new buildings and roads as well the living conditions. This viewpoint has been recently renovated , now covering more green spaces and marketing areas of regional products , craft and catering , new play areas and support and a substantial improvement in access and pedestrian and motor traffic.
Eira do Serrado Viewpoint
Situated at an altitude of 1095 m, it offers a breathtaking panorama of the village of Curral das Freiras . The belvedere of Eira do Serrado , located in the mountainous interior of Câmara de Lobos municipality, the ‘ heart ‘ of the island , stands at an altitude of 1095 m . It offers panoramic fantastic over the valley where lies the picturesque village of Curral das Freiras and the great mountains of the central massive that surround it. Access to the viewpoint is by a path that part of Estalagem Eira do Serrado .

Curral das Freiras
Nestled in the heart of Madeira Island, surrounded by tremendous mountains and owner of an unimaginable beauty, is Curral das Freiras, also known as Nun´s Valley. As history recalls, Curral das Freiras was once previously used as a refuge for the nuns of the Convent of Santa Clara who fled Funchal and sought protection in this inaccessible valley from the invasion of French Lutheran Pirates. Hence the name “Nun´s Valley”
A journey to the Centre of this small village is a real adventure. In November, the town is painted in colour and joy during its Chestnut Festival. It’s a must when you get down to the center to try the chestnut ,let it be roasted or boiled and also the lovely cakes they have and especially their liquors that is recommended to try also.
